Terra Andrews was born on Feb. 27, 1984, in Houston, Texas. Andrews was a two-sport standout at Dulles High School in Sugarland. She was named Newcomer of the Year during her sophomore season in volleyball and was recognized on the all-district team her junior and senior years. While she excelled in volleyball, she was a force on the basketball court, earning invitations to both the TABC All-Star Team and the TGCA All-Star Team. Andrews was selected to the all-district team her senior year and was nominated as a McDonald’s All-American. In addition to her success on the court, Andrews was also a member of the National Honor Society.

Andrews arrived on campus at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in the fall of 2002 and quickly became a leader on the court for the Islanders women’s basketball team. Andrews has a resumé that is unparalleled in program history. In addition to being the Islanders’ career scoring leader with 1,550 points, she also holds the school records in both field goals (607) and field-goal attempts (1,420). She scored 20 points or more 25 times in her career, an Islanders record, and led the team to an Independent Championship and a spot in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament in 2005. The 2004-05 Islanders finished the year with a 23-7 record.

The native of Missouri City, Texas, was named the Division I Independent Women’s Basketball Player of the Year in each of her final three seasons, in addition to earning Second Team honors in her freshman campaign. She is also third on the Islanders all-time list in rebounds (815) and double-doubles (20) and is tenth in blocks (87) and ninth in steals (145). Her 465 points in 2004-05 are the second most in a season in Islanders history.

After graduating Cum Laude in May of 2006, Andrews returned to her roots in Houston. Today she serves as an insurance broker for Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services.
