Dumity and Green earn All-Invitational honors

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball student-athletes Sam Dumity and Madison Green were named to the Islander Invitational All-Tournament team for their play on Friday. The Islanders defeated Texas Southern, 3-0, in the first match at the Dugan Wellness Center and fell to the University of Miami in the second match, 3-0.

Dumity appeared in all six sets, hitting a blistering .447. She had 20 kills with just three attacking errors in the two matches. She had a career-high 11 kills against the Hurricanes, hitting .429 with two attacking errors. Against the Tigers, Dumity notched nine kills with just one error, hitting .471 in the victory.

Green finished the two matches with 72 assists (12.0 aps) and 22 digs (3.67 dps). She had 11 kills and added a block and a service ace. Against Texas Southern and Miami, the junior had 36 assists in each, just one off her career-high. She had a double-double in both matches giving her four this year and and 12 for her career. Green was also named to the South Carolina Gamecock Invitational All-Tournament team to begin the season.

The Islanders will hit the road for four-straight matches beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at UTRGV in the second installment of the South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. After a three-match tournament in Missouri, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi returns home to face Nicholls State in the Southland Conference opener on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Fans can find the entire 2018 promotional schedule HERE.
