CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team snagged two transfers that will join the program this spring semester to prep for competition in the 2026 season as they signed Kaitlyn Aleshire and Lauren Sandvold.
The transfers will join the spring roster, joining as two additions to the newcomer class that has four freshman signed for the 2026 season. They are joining a program that seen six championships in the last 10 years under head coach
Steve Greene including four trips to the NCAA Tournament, most recently in 2024.
Aleshire is a middle blocker from Aurora, Illinois and transfers in after three years of experience most recently from Southern Utah after a previous stop at Missouri State-West Plains. At MSU-West Plains, Aleshire was a stellar hitter where she earned NJCAA D1 All-American Second Team honors her sophomore year after also being named to the NJCAA All-Region First Team. She additionally helped the squad to a fifth-place finish at NJCAA Nationals. This last season at Southern Utah, she played every set in every match and ranked high on the team in both kills and blocks.
"Kaitlyn stood out amidst an accelerated recruiting process with her adaptability and attentive communication. Her athleticism allows her to attack from all areas along the net. Her attention to detail makes her an astute blocker against all attackers. She has attained many accolades including being named an NJCAA All American. Kaitlyn aspires to continue to improve and help our program attain more accomplishments," said Greene.
Sandvold is a libero from Cedar Falls, Iowa, and comes to the Island after spending the last two years at Des Moines Area Community College. A JUCO standout, she earned multiple national accolades including being named to the 2025 NJCAA D2 All-American Third Team, the 2025 ICCAC All-Region First Team, and the 2025 Region 11-B All-Tournament Team. Sandvold was a three-time league Defensive Player of the Week and even earned a national nod as an NJCAA D2 Defensive Player of the Week. This past season she ranked fifth in all NJCAA D2 in total digs and led her league in digs per set and total digs the entire season.
"Lauren has steadily improved season after season. She has shown that she is a stellar passer as well as being a standout defender. She is able to solidify her defensive surroundings and simply makes her teammates better. Her spectacular skills and savvy play earned her NJCAA All American status this season. Lauren brings a steadfast and selfless spirit that will simply make our program more successful," said Greene.
