Volleyball announces 2018 schedule

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Head Coach Steve Greene has announced the Islanders 2018 schedule. The 29-match slate includes 11 home contests at the Dugan Wellness Center. The Islanders will take on five NCAA Tournament teams from 2017 including Missouri, East Tennessee State, Central Arkansas, Miami and LSU.

The season will begin on Friday, Aug. 24, at the University of South Carolina Tournament in Columbia, S.C. The Islanders will face host South Carolina at 11:30 a.m. followed by a 4 p.m. match against Clemson. Saturday's match will be at 11 a.m. against East Tennessee State.

The South Texas Showdown will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 28, against UTRGV at home in the Dugan Wellness Center starting at 6:30 p.m. The two teams will meet again in Edinburg, Texas, on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m.

The LSU Tournament will begin on Friday, Aug. 31, against the host Tigers at 12:30 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., the Islanders will face the University of South Florida. The weekend concludes at 11 a.m. against ACC member Duke.

On Friday, Sept. 7, the Islanders will host a double-header starting with an 11:30 a.m. match against Texas Southern. The 5:30 p.m. evening contest will feature the Blue and Green against the University of Miami in one of the highest profile matches to be played in the Dugan Wellness Center.

The non-conference season concludes with the University of Missouri Tournament starting on Friday, Sept. 14. The Islanders face Missouri at 11 a.m. on Friday, followed by a 4:30 p.m. matchup against Drake University. Saturday's match will start at noon against Ohio University.

The eight-match Southland Conference home slate for the Islanders begins on Sept. 20, against Nicholls State University at 6:30 p.m. The rest of the home schedule includes New Orleans (Sept. 22; 1 p.m.), Incarnate Word (Oct. 4; 6:30 p.m.), Houston Baptist (Oct. 11; 6:30 p.m.), Lamar (Oct. 18; 6:30 p.m.), McNeese State (Oct. 20; 1 p.m.), Sam Houston State (Oct. 25; 6:30 p.m.) and Abilene Christian (Oct. 27; 1 p.m.).

Central Arkansas will host the Islanders on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. The conference road schedule also includes stops at Stephen F. Austin (Sept. 29; 1 p.m.), Sam Houston State (Oct. 9, 6:30 p.m.), Abilene Christian (Oct. 16; 6:30 p.m.), Southeastern Louisiana (Nov. 1; 7 p.m.), Northwestern State (Nov. 3, 1 p.m.), Houston Baptist (Nov. 6; 7 p.m.) and Incarnate Word (Nov. 10; 1 p.m.).
