CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Coming off a strong opening week to the 2017 season, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi tennis returns to action with a trip to UTSA Wednesday afternoon.

Both the Islanders men and women will battle the Roadrunners, with first serve set for 2 p.m. in both matches. The matchup is the first of two meetings between the Islanders and UTSA this season.

The women enter Wednesday's contest after a thrilling 4-3 victory at Houston on Saturday.
Maria Maldonado sealed the victory with a third-set rally from down 3-0 to take the final point of the match. The win capped a perfect 3-0 week for the Islanders, which also included wins over Prairie View and UTRGV. The three victories ran the women's regular season win streak to 24 consecutive matches dating back to 2016.

The men were equally as strong, going 3-0 as well in their opening matches of 2017. The Blue and Green took a pair of matches from Prairie View in a doubleheader before knocking off South Texas Showdown rival UTRGV 6-1 in Edinburg. Senior
Paul Cook went 3-0 in the opening week, taking a singles match at number one and a pair of matches in the number two spot in the order.

Both the Islander men and women swept the season series from the Roadrunners in 2016. A&M-Corpus Christi and UTSA will meet in Corpus Christi on March 29 to conclude the season series in 2017.
