CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball program jumped out to a two-set lead before Southeastern Louisiana came back to grab a 3-2 (15-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-13) decision Saturday at the Dugan Wellness Center.

Senior
Montez Uigaese turned in a season-high 14 kills and hit for a .367 mark to lead the A&M-Corpus Christi (6-2, 4-2 SLC) offense. Senior
Hannah Froeschl and junior
Kylie Filipiak also were in double-figures with 12 kills apiece.

Sophomore
Carissa Barnes dug up 42 attacks and sophomore
Faith Panhans dished out 39 assists to fill out the stat sheet.

The Lady Lions (5-3, 3-2 SLC) were paced by Kailin Newsome who killed 26 attacks on 70 attempts.

For the match, the Islanders outhit SLU by a .212-.183 advantage. A&M-Corpus Christi also won more total points 83-77.

In the fifth and deciding set, A&M-Corpus led 13-9 after a block-assist by Filipiak and Froeschl. Though, the Lady Lions won the final six points of the match, which included four kills and a pair of attack errors from the Islanders.

A&M-Corpus Christi is now 15-2 all-time against SLU and have won six of the last seven meetings.

The Islanders will look to bounce back Thursday when they travel to Sam Houston for a 6:30 p.m. start.
