Royce Chadwick has announced the addition of Alexandria Pollard to the Islanders' roster. Pollard, who comes to the Island from from Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City, Louisiana, is originally from Houston, Texas. She will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Blue and Green.
"Alex has a dominate inside presence as well as the ability to face up," said Coach Chadwick. "She can rebound, block shots and play tough defense. She was coached by a tremendous junior college coach in Brenda Nichols. Her experience with our young team will be immeasurable."
Pollard appeared in 59 career games with 30 starts for the Cavaliers, averaging 8.2 ppg and 8.0 rebounds/game. In addition, the Houston, Texas native collected 2.8 blocks/game which included 3.6/game in 2019-20.
This past season, Pollard reached double figures on 19 different occasions including 13 straight from Jan. 15 - Feb. 29. Five of those 19 double digit scoring efforts reached 20+ points, highlighted by a season high 28 points on Feb. 15. Overall, the 6'3'' center appeared and started in all 29 games in 2019-20, leading the Lady Cavaliers with 13.1 points/game and 10.6 rebounds/game.
