Women's tennis falls to New Orleans

The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women's tennis team fell to the University of New Orleans, 4-3, on Sunday at the University Tennis Center in New Orleans, La.
- The Islanders are now 13-6 overall and 6-4 in Southland play. The Privateers improved to 12-9 overall and 5-5 in league action.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi got a double's victory on the No. 3 court from Carolina Bulatovic and Maria Maldonado, 6-0, but fell on courts No. 1 and No. 2.
- In singles, Camille Townsend got a straight-set win at No. 3.
- Maldonado battled back from a set down to win at No. 6.
- At No. 4, Mariya Shumeika also battled back from being a set down to win in three.
- The Islanders' victory on Friday over Nicholls qualified the team for the 2019 Southland Conference Tournament which starts on April 25 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

- As a program, the Islanders have reached 10 NCAA Tournaments in program history and captured 22 Southland titles in the last 12 years. The men are seeking the program's eighth NCAA Tournament appearance. The women have won the past three Southland Conference regular season titles.

- The Islanders will head to Tyler, Texas, to take on Central Arkansas in a neutral site match to finish up the 2019 regular season. The match was rescheduled from earlier this season due to weather. After that, A&M-Corpus Christi will prepare for the Southland Conference Championships at home starting on Thursday, April 25, at the Thomas J Henry Tennis Center.
