EDINBURG, Texas - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi men's and women's tennis teams will head to Edinburg, Texas to face UTRGV on Wednesday, March 13, in the second installment of the
South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. Both matches are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. at the Orville I. Cox Tennis Center. Earlier this season, the Islander men beat UTRGV 6-1 and the women won 5-2, back on Feb 4 at the Thomas J Henry Tennis Center.
UTRGV's men are 2-13 this season and 0-1 at home while the women are 2-7 this year and 1-2 when playing at home.
The Islander women are 7-3 after picking up a Southland Conference victory against defending tournament champion McNeese at home last Friday. The women have won the past three Southland Conference regular season titles.
The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men enter Wednesday's match at 12-5 overall. The men are seeking the program's eighth NCAA Tournament appearance.
As a program, the Islanders have reached 10 NCAA Tournaments in program history and captured 22 Southland titles in the last 12 years.
Up next, the women head to Beaumont, Texas, to take on Lamar University on Saturday, March 16, at 1 p.m. The A&M-Corpus Christi men will face UT Arlington in Arlington, Texas, at noon on Tuesday, March 19.
