- Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women are 38-3 over last three years in SLC play.
The Islander women begin their quest for a fourth consecutive Southland Conference regular season title this Friday with a tough challenge at rival Northwestern State. The Islanders and demons have met in the SLC Conf conference finals now three times. The SLC tournament finals have featured either the Islanders or Demons for nine straight years. This is truly a great college rivalry and there is great respect between these teams and coaches.
The Islander women are 6-2 and coming off 6-1 wins against UTSA and AM-Kingsville. This is a special group for the Islanders that is extremely talented and on the upswing but also extremely young. The Islanders feature five freshman and one sophomore in the top six on this very promising team whose recruiting class ranked No. 12 nationally among mid majors.
This young team has been a joy to coach and is improving at such a rapid rate. They have strong character, listen, work with an extreme work ethic, compete with all their hearts and have great team unity. They are truly committed to hard work and excellence on and off the court and made a 3.8 team GPA last fall. We are very excited about our upcoming journey together beginning this Friday!
Thank you for your continued support of Islander tennis!
