CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi head golf coach
Joni Stephens has announced the signing of Lucie Charbonnier for the 2020-21 season.
"I am pleased to announce the addition of Lucie to our 2020-21 roster," said coach Stephens. "She is the total package – good student, good athlete. She comes to us with a 4.0 GPA and a tournament scoring average of 75 and a low round of 69. Lucie has great tournament experience and knows what it means to win. She impressed me with her solid fundamentals and positive mindset; she knows what she wants to achieve and what it will take to reach her goals. Lucie is very independent, yet she loves being part of a team. She understands the importance of hard work and perseverance, personal characteristics that will help her find success at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – both on the golf course and in the classroom. We are excited to welcome Lucie to the Island!"
Lucie began competing at 11 years of age; her first participation was the Junior French Championship Finals. She played seven years in a row with her best finish in 2019 thanks to her best personal score of -3. Lucie has been an active member of the girl/ladies teams at Mionnay, France since she was 12 years old. She really enjoys playing for a team, especially in match play rounds. Lucie has spent the past three years at the Prime Golf Academy, dedicated to improving her golf game and getting a good GPA at school. This experience has been a crucial part of making her dream of playing collegiate golf at the Division I level come true.
