SAN MARCOS, Texas – In a competitive opening round of the 2026 Southland Conference Championship, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team turned in a 303 (+15) through the first 18 holes to sit in a fourth-place tie.
After a round of play in the conference tournament, the Islanders are tied for fourth with Lamar, just 11 strokes behind second place and 19 strokes behind leading HCU with two rounds still left to play.
Lucia Ramirez led the squad with an impressive 73 (+1) score, placing herself sixth individual on the leaderboard.
Tristan Gabbard wasn't far behind with a 76 (+4) day to sit in 19
th place individually.
Matching each other were
Elsa Tornvall and
Samantha Gibbs who each submitted a 77 (+5) in the round to tie each other first 21
st.
Hannah Creekmore rounded out the team with an 80 (+8) in her first collegiate championship.
The Islanders will be grouped with Lamar and East Texas A&M for round two, with the first pairing teeing off at 12:50 p.m.
