Golf Reigns as PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship Victors Once Again

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Back on top once again, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team reclaimed its throne Wednesday at the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship, capturing the program's fifth title in the event after closing out a dominant three-day performance at The Park course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The championship marks what is essentially a fifth straight crown for the Islanders, who previously won four consecutive tournament titles from 2021-24 before not competing in last year's event due to advancing to NCAA postseason play. Returning to the championship in 2026, the Islanders picked up right where they left off.

A&M-Corpus Christi finished the tournament at 917 (+65), nine shots clear of runner-up North Carolina A&T State at 926. Texas Southern placed third at 939.

The Islanders pressed through the whole tournament, sitting in second place after a 311 first round but then firing up to first following day two with a tournament-best 296 score and then slamming the door shut Wednesday with a final-round 310.

Elsa Tornvall paced the Islanders in the final round with a 74, while Tristan Gabbard added a 78. Lucia Ramirez and Samantha Gibbs each posted 79s as A&M-Corpus Christi placed four golfers under 80 in the clinching round. Hannah Creekmore rounded out the lineup with an 81.

The turning point of the tournament came on Tuesday when the Islanders fired a 296, the lowest team round of the event, to create separation atop the leaderboard. Gibbs highlighted the second round with an even-par 72, while Ramirez followed closely with a 73 as A&M-Corpus Christi seized complete control heading into the final day.

North Carolina A&T made a final-round push with a tournament-low 299 on Wednesday, but the Islanders' consistency throughout the week proved too much to overcome.

The victory concludes year two under head coach Chris Adams, who has taken the program to back-to-back postseason appearances with last year's NCAA tournament paired with the championship this season.
