SAN MARCOS, Texas – The reigning SLC Champions of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team will look to repeat this week when the 2026 tournament begins Monday back at the Kissing Tree Golf Course in San Marcos.
The Islanders finished the 2025 SLC Championships with a 17-stroke advantage to come away with the title, the program's first in 16 years and second ever. They were the only team under 900 for the week, with two rounds under 300 helping them to an 885 54-hole total.
The team's lineup this week will be (1)
Samantha Gibbs, 2)
Lucia Ramirez (3)
Tristan Gabbard, (4),
Elsa Tornvall and (5)
Hannah Creekmore. The top four are the same players from last year's championship squad, with Gabbard placing fourth for an All-Tournament finish in 2025.
Tornvall and Gibbs had additionally finished top-10 at last year's outing at sixth and seventh, respectively. Tornvall claimed an individual title at the Islanders' home tournament this season, with Gibbs earning a top-three finish this season and Ramirez posting a top-five finish throughout the spring.
The Islanders will officially get underway Monday at 12 p.m. in a tee time format, with each squad teeing off in 10-minute intervals. The Islanders will open paired with HCU and UTRGV, with Tuesday and Wednesday starts to be determined based off the previous rounds' results.
