FRISCO, Texas – For the second month in a row, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team produced the women's SLC Golfer of the Month with
Lucia Ramirez snagging the honors for March, announced by the league office Wednesday.
Ramirez is the second Islander honored with the accolade this year after teammate
Elsa Tornvall won Golfer of the Month for February following her first-place title in the Islanders Collegiate Invitational.
In March, Ramirez led the Islanders individually in two of the three tournaments played throughout the month including a top-five finish at the Ozarks National Invitational hosted by Missouri State with a 223 (+7).
She posted another 223 (+7) tournament score in the Riverbend Intercollegiate hosted by HCU for a team-best 18th individual placing and finished second on the team in the West Texas Classic hosted by Abilene Christian with a 228 (+18) tournament score.
Ramirez hoists a 76.7 scoring average this season, right behind leading teammate
Samantha Gibbs (76.2). She and the Islanders will now gear up for the SLC Championships where they will look to defend their championship title April 13-15 back at the Kissing Tree Golf Club.
