CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi men's and women's tennis teams will host Prairie View A&M on Friday, Feb. 1, for both team's home openers. The day will feature four matches as each men's and women's Islander squads will play the Panthers twice with the first match scheduled for noon and the second at 4 p.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center on the Momentum Campus.
The Islander women are 1-0 after a season-opening victory over Trinity University last Friday. The women have won the past three Southland Conference titles.
The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men enter Friday's matches at 4-1, picking up a pair of wins over Trinity and Prairie View A&M. The men are seeking the program's eighth NCAA Tournament appearance.
As a program, the Islanders have reached 10 NCAA Tournaments in program history and captured 22 Southland titles in the last 12 years.
Up next is the South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. The Islander men and women will take on UTRGV on Monday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
