Islanders fall in tight road match at UCA

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team fell to the University of Central Arkansas, 3-1, at the Prince Center in Conway, Ark., on Thursday evening.
- The Islanders are now 2-1 in Southland Conference play. The Sugar Bears improved to 12-4 overall and 2-1 in league action.
- Chloe Simon had a career high 15 kills with eight digs and a block.
- Madison Green recorded her sixth double-double of the year with a career-high 41 assists to go along with 10 digs. She added seven blocks, a service ace and a block.
- Julia Carter had a career-high 12 kills. She also added two digs, two blocks, an assist and a service ace.

Key Islander Statistics
- The Islanders won the first set, 25-22 but UCA came back to win the next three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-16.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's best set came in the first as the team hit .333 with 19 kills and just five attacking errors.
- Kylie Filipiak had eight kills and added a pair of blocks. She hit .286 for the match.
- Rachel Young hit .556 with five kills. She tied a career-high with three blocks and added four digs defensively.
- Sam Dumity had seven kills and four digs. She had a pair of blocks and recorded three assists.
- Kaylee Payne recorded her third double-digit dig performance, recording 15. She also added three assists.

Key Islander Sequences
- Late in the first set, the two teams were knotted at 21-21. But Green managed to record a quick kill to give the Islanders the lead and a UCA attacking error went long to make it 23-21, forcing a Sugar Bear timeout. Simon gave the Islanders set point with her third kill of the set. After a UCA point, Dumity recorded her third kill of the evening, giving A&M-Corpus Christi the early set, 25-22.

- The Islanders started the third set off on the right foot, jumping out to an early 5-0 lead. After an attacking error by UCA, Carter recorded a block then put away a kill off a feed from Simon to make it 3-0. After a Sugar Bear attacking error, Filipiak and Dumity combined for a block to make it 5-0 A&M-Corpus Christi.
