MAGNOLIA, Texas - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi golf team will compete at the Sam Houston State Bearkat Women's Invitational starting on Monday, Oct. 1, at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia, Texas. Monday will feature the first two rounds as the field will play 36 holes. Tuesday will be the final 18 holes.
The Islanders capped a strong first week to the fall season in a pair of competitions. At the Ball State Cardinal Classic, A&M-Corpus Christi finished in a tie for fifth place, moving up the team leaderboard after each round. The team fired a 908 which is tied for the sixth lowest 54-hole total in program history. Newcomer
Kellsey Sample led the way, finishing in a tie for 15th place which included an even par 72 during her second round.
On Sept. 21, the Islanders beat UTRGV in the first meeting of the
South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union to secure three points for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Brooklyn Sutton,
Autumn Bynum and
Dani Bergmann each picked up match-play victories as the Islanders beat UTRGV, 3-2.
Up next, the team heads to the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational starting on Monday, Oct. 8. The three-day tournament will be held at the New Mexico State University Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.
