NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis returned to the road today, traveling to Nacogdoches to take on SFA. After sweeping the doubles point, the Islanders carried that momentum throughout singles play, earning a 5-2 victory over the Lumberjacks.
With today's win, the Islanders improve to 35-2 in the Southland Conference over the last three years. The women also head into April in 1st Place in the SLC standings for the third-straight year.
"That match was a battle on every court," said Coach Steve Moore. "I give SFA a lot of credit for how hard and tough they fought. I'm really proud of our girls for how tough they competed today in a tough road environment. They made the choice to be mentally tough, and control the things they can control."
"We have trained extremely hard since September to have the right to be confident in these hot April fitness matches," Moore continued. "I'm proud of our girls for today, but I'm also proud of how they have been paying the price the last seven months. They've been a blue-collar family, and it showed. We have a lot to work on, and a big week ahead to improve. Go Islanders!"
