Women Seek Third-Consecutive NCAA Championships Appearance

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis returns to the road, traveling to Beaumont for the 2018 Southland Conference Tournament. The tournament will be held Friday, April 27 through Sunday, April 29. The women kick things off tomorrow morning in a 10 a.m. first-round match against New Orleans.

Earlier this season, the Islanders hosted UNO in a mid-season matchup. The women were able to handle their business at home, securing a 5-2 victory over the Privateers.

The Islanders closed out the regular season with a stellar 10-1 record in conference play. In doing so, they head into the tournament as the second seed, holding a share of the Southland Conference regular season title. This marks the third-consecutive year in which the women have reigned as champions. It is also the fourth time in the last five years in which the Islanders have secured the regular season title.

Heading into this weekend's tournament, the Islanders have their eyes on the prize. On top of securing their third-consecutive regular season title, the women have the opportunity to reach their third-consecutive NCAA Championships if they win it all this weekend. Currently on a seven-match win streak, the women look for a repeat of their first match with UNO, hoping to start the tournament on the right foot with a victory over the Privateers!
