Box Score BEAUMONT, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis returned to the road today, traveling to Beaumont to take on Lamar. The Islanders came out of the gates running, securing the doubles point to start the match. Moving into singles play, they built on that momentum throughout the rest of the match, securing a 5-2 victory over the Cardinals!
"Gritty win from our guys," said Coach Steve Moore. "That's one of the teams I always respect the most. The way they fight, with the character of their coach and team. Lamar is a top-notch program. We've just had an unbelievable, respectful rivalry over the last six or seven years. We know it's going to be a dogfight. We know it's going to be a five-hour battle."
"Today didn't leave anyone short-changed," Moore continued. "Every guy fought with all their hearts. I'm just really proud of the character and the grit of our guys. We're getting better every week, learning and growing. We're showing a lot of heart in the moments that count. We're really looking forward to the conference tournament. We're going to stay in the present, control the things we can control, be blue collar and chop wood."
