CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis returned to the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center this afternoon, continuing conference play as they hosted Southeastern Louisiana. After taking the doubles point to start the match, the women continued to battle throughout singles play, leading to a 6-1 victory over the Lions.
With today's win, the Islanders improve to 6-1 in Southland Conference play this spring, and 35-2 in the last three years. This victory also notches the women a tie for 1st place within the conference standings.
"Just another tough Southland Conference dogfight," said Coach Steve Moore. "Every match is 50/50 in this conference, so it's about who squeezes all the juice out of their orange, and maxes out all the things they can control. Southeastern, and Coach Jason Hayes, is one of the teams I have the most respect for. They're a true team that always play hard for each other. We were fortunate to win a lot of close ones today."
"I'm very proud of our group," Moore continued. "They've battled and stayed mentally tough through a lot of challenges and adversity this spring. I've told them – 'here we are, even will all the injuries and challenges, with a chance to win it all again. Let's just compete each present point like a warrior, support each other like family, and see what happens.'"
