LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis returned to the road today, traveling to Lake Charles to take on McNeese. The women battled throughout the match, pushing four of the matches (including doubles) to the third sets. Ultimately, the Islanders fell to the Cowgirls in a heartbreaking 2-5 loss, giving the women just their 2nd Southland Conference loss in the last 3 years.
"I give a lot of credit to McNeese today," said Coach Steve Moore. "They were just flat-out tough as nails at home. McNeese is one of the toughest places to play in the Southland Conference. They had a big, rowdy crowd. That was a great college tennis match. That's what we want to see – 100 people screaming every point. That atmosphere elevates everyone."
"In the big scheme of our season," Moore continued, "this is good for us. We will stay unified, get back to our roots, and keep chopping wood. Just get better and smarter every day. I love the character and fight of our team, and I'll take them 100 times out of 100 in late April."
