CYPRESS, Texas - Autumn Bynum and
Brooklyn Sutton take 12th and 18th respectively, as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finishes fourth in the HBU Women's Husky Intercollegiate.
The Islanders' team total of 939 bettered Southland Conference rivals Incarnate Word (942) and McNeese (945), while beating nearby Texas A&M-Kingsville by a whopping 53 strokes. The Blue and Green's performance is their fourth top-five finish of the fall and spring campaigns, and just two places off the season-best performance at the UTRGV Invitational at the beginning of the month.Â
The pair of sophomores each posted rounds of 80 this Tuesday, with Bynum finishing at a team-best 16 over par. The second-year Islander tallied seven birdies over 54 holes, to finish in the top-20 for the fourth consecutive competition.Â
Sutton's score came in just a few strokes short of her teammate in 18th, posting an 18 over par for the duration of the week. Her 234 came in two better than the Islanders'
Olivia Lowe, who tallied a 21st-place finish, thanks in part to a pair of 77s in rounds one and two.
Alex Amos and
Dani Bergmann rounded out the Blue and Green's five competitors in 31st and 42nd, with the former posting a team-best seven over par in the final round.
COMING UP NEXT
The Blue and Green will have a short break after Tuesday's round, next competing at the Lamar-hosted Cardinal Challenge this coming April 9-10th.
