Holding Ninth After Two Rounds

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas - Two Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golfers sit in the top-10 of the Bradley Spring Invitational this Monday, as the Islanders place ninth overall through the first two rounds of play.

After shooting 74 and one over par, both Brooklyn Sutton and Autumn Bynum sat in a tie for first after round one, combining for three birdies through the first 18 holes of play. The sophomore duo both shot 79s in the succeeding round to finish the afternoon in a tie for ninth, sitting just six strokes shy of field-leader Jacinta Pikunas of Akron.

Dani Bergmann bounced back from her seven-over in the morning with one of the better second rounds of the day, shooting a 75 in her latter 18 holes. Julia Dereniwsky and Alex Amos rounded out the Blue and Green performances, finishing with respective stroke counts of 168 and 170 over 36 holes. 

With a team total of 629, the Islanders sit just four strokes from sixth-place UNC Ashevillle and eight short of fourth-place Northern Illinois. The side currently sits three places ahead of UTRGV, in search of another two points in the annual South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. The Blue and Green currently leads the series 22.5-20.5 and has the opportunity to take a commanding lead with a superior finish over the Vaqueros this weekend.

Corpus Christi completes its time at the Bradley Spring Invitational, with Tuesday's third round set for a shotgun start at 9 AM. Sitting in ninth overall the Blue and Green will be in search of their fifth top-10 finish of the fall and spring seasons.
