DALLAS, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis falls short in their Saturday showdown at SMU. With a final match score of 5-0, the Islanders fall to 2-2 on the season.
"Give credit to SMU," said Coach
Steve Moore. "We competed very hard, but they were too strong at home today. We played very well in all the second sets, but got off to a slow start in singles. SMU was just really physical and jumped on us, putting us on our heels. We didn't stay low and hold our ground well enough. Against these elite level teams, you have to squeeze all the juice out of your orange - 90% will just get you beat. It must be every point tough and smart."
"But, I'm excited about the future of this team," Moore continued. "We took a step forward today. We know that the hot, fitness, mental toughness part of the season is coming. This teams confidence and morale are high, and I'm excited for the next three months."
