Volleyball drops road match to HBU

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team fell to Houston Baptist, 3-1, at Sharp Gym in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday evening.
- The Islanders fall to 7-8 in Southland play. The Huskies improved to 15-14 overall and 8-7 in conference action.
- Chloe Simon had a team-high 15 kills and added 10 kills for her fifth double-double of the year. She hit 297 for the match with just for errors. She also had two assists.

Key Islander Statistics
- The Huskies won the first set, 25-20, before the Islanders won the second, 25-21. HBU won the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-22.
- Rachel Young hit .350 with 10 kills, two blocks, a dig and an assist.
- Jenna Krenek had a match-high 20 kills, her second match with 20 or more digs. She also added four assists.
- Madison Green had 34 assists to go along with nine kills, six digs, two service aces and a block. She hit .471 for the match with just one attacking error.
- Kaylee Payne had 15 digs, two service aces, an assist and a kill.
- Julia Carter had seven kills with a career-high five blocks.
- Sam Dumity had five blocks, four kills, two digs and an assist.
- Angel Felan had five digs an assist an a service ace.

Key Islander Sequence
- Trailing late in the second set, 20-19, the Islanders closed out the second set with a resounding 6-1 run. After a Husky service error tied the match, 20-20, Payne picked up one of her rare kills to give Texas A&M-Corpus Christi a 21-20 advantage. It was the Islanders' first lead of a set in which they trailed by seven, 10-3, early on. Simon's kill made it 22-20 and forced an HBU timeout. Back-to-back Payne aces gave A&M-Corpus Christi set point at 24-20. The Huskies got one point back but the set ended on an HBU ball handling error on a set as the Islanders won, 25-21.
