- The Islanders won all three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 29-27.
- A&M-Corpus hit .302 for the match with 46 kills. The Islanders held a statistical advantage over the Cardinals in digs (55-41), assists (45-28), blocks (6-4) and service aces (5-2).

Key Islander Sequences
- The Islanders jumped out to a quick lead in the first set. A&M-Corpus Christi scored the first four points of the match, getting a pair of kills from Filipiak and one from Dumity to take an early 3-0 lead. UIW got on the board but back-to-back kills from Carter and Dumity extended the lead to 5-1 in a set that the Islanders led from start to finish.
- Again, A&M-Corpus Christi set the tone early in the second set. The Cardinals scored the first two points of the second set but it was all Islanders after that. Filipiak got the team on the board with a kill and Payne tied it up with a service ace, 2-2. Dumity gave the Islanders a lead with a kill and Payne's second ace of the set made it 4-2. Two UIW attacking errors made it 6-2 and a bad set pushed the lead to 7-2. The Cardinals scored to make it 7-3 but quickly gave momentum back to A&M-Corpus Christi with a service error. Filipiak made it 9-3 and a UIW attacking error made it 10-3. A block from Young and Filipiak combined with a Simon kill completed the 5-0 run as the Islanders increased their lead to 12-3.
- Trailing 19-14 late on the third set, the Islanders went on an 8-2 run to take the lead late. After a UIW service error, Young and Carter combined for a block and on the next play, Green and Young came up with a block to make it 19-17. Young recorded a kill to pull within one, 19-18, forcing a Cardinal timeout. Out of the timeout, Carter recorded a kill to tie the match and a UIW attacking error gave the Islanders a 20-19 lead.
- Trailing 27-26 and facing set point in the third, A&M-Corpus Christi went on a 3-0 run to take the set and the match. A UIW service error tied the match, 27-27. Young gave the Islanders match point with a kill. On the ensuing play, Young combined with Green for a block to end the match.
