MACON, Ga. - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi golf team placed seventh at the Mercer Idle Hour Collegiate after the third and final round on Tuesday. The tournament was held at the Idle Hour Golf Club in Macon, Ga., and featured 13 teams and 74 individual participants.
"Great play by Daniela this week," said head coach
Joni Stephens. "She has played steady golf all semester, and it is exciting to see her setting new personal scoring records. One of our goals this fall was to have consistency in our rounds, and that is something we have accomplished. I am very pleased about that. We have to continue working on getting off to a better start, as well as finishing our final round. We struggled our last several holes coming in today, keeping us from finishing with a sub-300 round and higher on the leaderboard. We are looking forward to some much-needed time over the next two months to work on some of our weaker areas and expand on our strengths as we prepare for the spring season."
Dani Bergmann's even-par round of 72 on Tuesday gave the senior the program's fifth lowest 54-hole score of 217. She finished in fourth place overall and bested her previous 54-hole score by one stroke, a feat she accomplished two weeks ago at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational. For the year, Bergmann has now shot even par or better in 4-of-15 rounds. She is now tied for second in the Islander record book for the most rounds at even-par or better in a single season. Teammate
Autumn Bynum set the record last year with five rounds of par or better in 30 tournaments.
Bynum had a two-stroke improvement between the second and third rounds, shooting a 76. She finished in 26th place overall.
Brooklyn Sutton fired her third-straight round of 78 and tied for 43rd individually.
Kellsey Sample finished in a tie for 45th and
Alex Amos tied for 54th in the individual standings.
Mercer won the event with a combined team score of 870, 22 strokes clear of second place Toledo. The Rockets' Pinyada Kuvanun shot a 67 in her final round and won the individual title by one stroke over Mercer's Terese Romeo.
