- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team fell to Northwestern State in a close five-set match, 3-2, at Prather Coliseum in Natchitoches, La., on Saturday.
- The Islanders are now an even 7-7 in Southland play with two regular season matches to go. The Lady Demons improved to 10-13 overall and 6-7 in conference action.
Key Islander Statistics
- Northwestern State won the first set, 25-18, third set, 25-11, and fifth set, 15-7. The Islanders took the second set, 25-19, and the fourth set, 25-22.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's best set came in the second, hitting .344 with 16 kills while holding the Lady Demons to a match-low .119 attack percentage with seven errors.

Julia Carter had a team-high 13 kills. She also added a pair of digs, a block and an assist.

Madison Green finished with 45 assists, eight digs, four kills and three service aces. Her three blocks tied her career high.

Kaylee Payne had 20 digs with an assist. It was her third match this season with 20 or more digs.

Key Islander Sequences
- Simon helped push the Islanders to a second set win. With the lead at one, 17-16, A&M-Corpus Christi finished the set on an 8-6 run. Simon served as the catalyst, with four kills in the run. Green assisted on six Islander kills and combined with Young for a big block down the stretch. A&M-Corpus Christi got to set point on a Northwestern State attacking error. On the next play, Dumity put away a kill to give the Islanders the 25-19 set.
- It was a back-and-forth fourth set that saw Texas A&M-Corpus Christi take the point and tie the match, 2-2, forcing a fifth set. The Lady Demons pulled within one, 21-20, with a block but that was as close as the set got. Young made it a two-point game with a kill and then combined with Simon and Green on a block to make it 23-20. Green would make it set-point with a kill, 24-21 and two plays later, Carter ended the set with a kill off an assist from Green.
