The Coach
- " I thought we did a really good job limiting their attack tonight," said head coach
Steve Greene. "Young and Dumity were great in the middle. We got some nice defensive performances from Payne, Krenek and Felan."
Key Islander Sequences
- Trailing 19-17 in the first set, the Islanders got a 4-0 run to take a lead they would not relinquish. Dumity and Filipiak had a block, and a bad set from the Lions tied the set, 19-19. After a Southeastern timeout, a pair of Lion attack errors gave A&M-Corpus Christi a 21-19 lead. The Islanders closed out the set by scoring four of the next six points.
- The Lions went on a 3-0 run midway through the second set to pull within two, 14-12. But A&M-Corpus Christi responded with a 4-0 run of its own, taking advantage of three Southeastern attacking errors while getting a kill from Young.
- In the third, it looked as if the Lions were going to pull away for a set win, taking a 20-16 lead. But the Islanders fought back with a 5-0 run. Carter got a kill and the Lions had an attacking error to make it 20-18. After a timeout, a ball handling error from Southeastern made it 20-19. On the next play, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi got a kill from Carter to tie the match. Green tacked on a service ace to give the Islanders a 21-20 lead.

- The Islanders will head to Northwestern State for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, Nov. 3. After that, the team plays at Houston Baptist on Tuesday, Nov. 6 and closes out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the University of the Incarnate Word.
