Islanders power past Cowgirls for Saturday sweep

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team swept McNeese University, 3-0, at the Dugan Wellness Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Saturday.
- The Islanders move to an even 5-5 in Southland Conference play while the Cowgirls fall to 7-18 overall and 5-5 in conference action on the season.
- Chloe Simon finished the match hitting .571 with 13 kills, nine digs, three assists and one block. It was her sixth match this season with double-digit kills.
- Madison Green tied her career-high with two blocks and recorded 36 assists, 10 digs and nine kills for her eight double-double this year.

- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won all three sets by scores of 27-25, 27-25, and 25-22.
- The Islanders hit .296 for the match with their best set coming in the second, hitting .300 with 16 kills while forcing the Cowgirls into seven attacking errors.
- Sam Dumity finished the match with nine kills, four total blocks three assists and three digs.
- Julia Carter had 11 kills, three total blocks and a dig. She hit .250 and recorded her seventh match in double figures for kills this season.
- Rachel Young finished the day with six kills, four assists, three digs and a pair of blocks.

Key Islander Sequences
- After McNeese went up 6-1 in the beginning of the first set, the Islanders pushed through to win 27-25. A kill from from Filipiak tied the score 24-24 before a kill from the Cowgirls put them up 25-24. Two more kills from Filipiak assisted by Green put the Islanders in the lead 26-25. A blocking error from McNeese gave the Blue and Green the set for an early one-set lead.

- With both teams battling back and fourth throughout the set, the Islanders needed some extra points to take a two-set advantage on McNeese. A kill from Carter tied up the score 25-25 before an attack error from the Cowgirls gave the Islanders set point 26-25. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi got a set-winning block from freshmen teammates Dumity and Carter to win the set.

- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi took the third set, 25-22, to sweep McNeese in three. Tied at 17-17, a block from Dumity and Green put the Islanders in the lead that they would not relinquish. A kill from Simon made it set point and two plays later, Young put away the match-winner off an assist from Green.
