CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis opens its spring season on the road with a match against No. 8 Texas in Austin.
With the contest scheduled to air live on Longhorn Network this Friday, January 19 at 4 pm., its guaranteed to be a thriller as the Islanders will be the first to break in the Longhorns' newly constructed Tennis Center.
"The men have high hopes this season," explains Islanders head coach
Steve Moore. "They have worked incredibly hard all fall and over the break. We talk to them constantly that confidence is earned through extreme hard work and discipline."
This season, the Islanders look to build on their historic Southland success. The men have reached the NCAA tournament six times, been ranked in the top 40 nationally for three years, and have won 10 Southland Conference titles in eleven years – one of only four programs in 57 years to accomplish this in any sport.
Fans that make the trip to Austin to support the Blue and Green can expect to receive a free Islanders t-shirt, as Corpus Christi looks to take down one of the top teams in the country.
