MOBILE, Ala. – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf opened its 2017 fall season with a round of 322 at the USA Intercollegiate.

Playing at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove Crossings Course, the Islanders found the sledding tough on the opening day of 2017. The 322 places the Islanders 12th in the standings after the first round of the USA Intercollegiate.

Sophomore
Autumn Bynum carded a 4-over 76 to lead the Islanders on the opening day of the tournament. Bynum notched four birdies in her team-leading round, including a birdie on her 10th hole of the day to pull back even. The next three holes saw the sophomore drop four shots, where she would finish her round at 4-over.

Dani Bergmann finished a shot off of Bynum with a 5-over 77. The junior rebounded nicely after a double-bogey to open her day, firing back with a birdie on her next hole. The birdie was one of three for Bergmann on the day.

Newcomer
Alex Amos carded an 84 in her first round with the Islanders. Amos sat 5-over at the turn, but suffered a pair of double bogeys on the back nine.
Brooklyn Sutton was a single stroke behind Amos at 85, carding nine pars in her round.
Olivia Lowe rounded out the Islanders five participants with an 88.

Corpus Christi will continue play at the USA Intercollegiate with the second round set for Sunday morning. The opening tournament of 2017-18 concludes with 18 holes on Monday.
