DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Competing in the National Dance Alliance Collegiate Nationals, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi dance team punched its ticket into the final rounds with a pair of performances on Thursday afternoon at the Peabody Auditorium.
"I'm thrilled for our team," head coach
Melanie Lowry said. "Our goal was to make the finals with both routines, and we did it. This team has put it so much work to prepare for nationals. I'm really happy that it's paying off for them. I can't wait to watch them perform in the final rounds tomorrow."
The Islanders hit the floor first in the Division I Jazz category. The Blue and Green had the 10th best routine in the preliminary round, which secured a spot in the finals on Friday at 1:43 p.m. EDT. The final round will feature 11 other programs, including James Madison, UMKC, Loyola-Chicago and Sam Houston State.
Three hours later, the Blue and Green was back on the stage for the Division I Pom. Besting its jazz routine by six spots, the Islanders qualified for the finals in fourth place. The championship round pits Corpus Christi against Stephen F. Austin, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Eastern Kentucky and will begin with the Islanders at 4:43 p.m. EDT.
All final round routines will be performed at the Ocean Center and will be live streamed through VarsityTV, as well as AppleTV and Roku on the FloSports app.
