MORE FROM MOORE
On six-straight wins…
"The guys are developing and they're working hard on the right things. Today was an opponent we respect and an opportunity to get two or three-percent better. I liked the guys' focus on just getting better every day, maxing out the things we can control, being great at our body management and great teammates in the way they compete. I loved the energy today."
On Trevor Gittinger's victory…
"Does it get any better than that for
Trevor Gittinger who as a juniors tennis player told me 50 times 'my dream is to play for the Islanders'? I said 'Trevor, you're going to have to build it, pay your dues, go to junior college and develop your game' and he did, he comes back, gets a chance to play and wins. That's one of the really fulfilling reasons that we do this and a really special moment for him and his family. They are Corpus Christi folks who have poured a lot of heart and soul into the Islanders program so I'm just real happy for them – it's a real special day to be an Islander."
On young guys getting match action…
"It's real important. There's guys that are knocking on the door to play. If any adversity hits with injury or a guy that hits a slump, they will play. It was an opportunity for them to get in there and work on match pressure situations – going through their mental check-downs, controlling the things they can control and playing each point with intensity. It's priceless to get those reps in."
