CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi tennis program returns to the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center on Wednesday for a Southland Conference matchup with Nicholls for the men and women starting at 2 p.m.

The Islanders men open league play at 8-4 after a sweep of UTRGV in the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union, last Tuesday and a fifth-place finish at the H-E-B Tournament of Champions.

Against the Vaqueros, Corpus Christi cruised to a 6-1 victory to seal the first-ever Showdown.
Carlos Pedrosa Cuevas extended his winning streak to a team-high four matches in singles play, as the Blue and Green dropped just three sets across the nine matches.

For the women, the Islanders enter the midweek contest at 7-1 this year and 1-0 in Southland, after dismantling the Incarnate Word on Sunday. Corpus Christi surrendered one set in the conference opener.

Maria Maldonado has started her career off strong with a record of 7-1 the year.
Judit Vives has been equally impressive on the campaign at 6-1.

The Islanders aim to continue their run of success over Nicholls with a pair of wins on Wednesday. During the 2016 season, the women shutout the Colonels 6-0 on the road, while the men knocked off Nicholls 5-2.
