Clash with the Cougars

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Off to a 2-0 start in the first week of the 2017 tennis season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's team heads to Houston for a Saturday afternoon battle with the Cougars. First serve in Houston is set for 1 p.m.
 
The Islanders opened the season on Tuesday, claiming a 7-0 win over Prairie View to win their 18th consecutive home match.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi followed with a strong win at UTRGV in the South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. The 6-1 win helped the Islanders retake the Showdown lead over the Vaqueros.

The Islanders have now won 23-straight regular season matches and 25 of their last 26 overall.
 
THROUGH THE WEEK
 
>> The pairing of freshman Louise Trigona and sophomore Marina Vicens Miquel is off to a 2-0 start at the second doubles position.
>> Senior Judit Vives, Vicens Miquel and freshman Maria Maldonado have all picked up a pair of singles wins in the opening week.
>> Two players have played at the top spot of the order with veterans Hortense Boscher and Jelena Dzinic each earning victories at number one.
