Softball Set for South Alabama Invitational

 
The Blue and Green split a midweek doubleheader with Texas Southern on Feb. 15. Liz Carter picked up her second win of the year with a shutout performance in the series opener.  
 
Carter shrugged off a pair of rough starts during opening weekend to rack up 17 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.00 in her last two appearances.
 
Kandace Johnson opened her career at the plate with a .278 average, a pair of RBI and a homerun. Mackinzee Griebel rolled off a four-game hitting streak to start the year and average .263 at the plate.
 
TENNESSEE TECH
>> Tennessee Tech has struggled out of the gate with a record of 1-8. The lone win of the year came against UT Chattanooga last weekend.
>> Gabby Perez has been a consistent presence on base with a .360 batting average, while four pitchers have combined for a 5.84 staff ERA.
 
MIDDLE TENNESSEE
>> Middle Tennessee has a record of 6-3 with wins over Georgia Southern, Tennessee Tech, Southeast Missouri State and Alcorn State.
>> Austyn Whaley leads the team with a .440 batting average and 12 RBI, as six players are hitting over .300.
 
SOUTH ALABAMA
>> The Jaguars have been on roll to start the season with a record of 9-1, falling to no. 4/5 Alabama 3-1.
>> MC Nichols is hitting .458 to start the year, while Amanda Minahan has driven in 10 runs, including a pair of homers.
