CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Heading into the final six games of the regular season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team faces a trip to San Antonio to play the University of the Incarnate Word on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.
 
The Islanders (9-14, 5-8) enter Wednesday's matchup in seventh place in the Southland Conference standings after a come-from-behind victory on the road at Southeastern Louisiana last week. Kassie Jones scored a game-high 17 points, going 9-of-10 from the line. The Blue and Green set a season high with 54 rebounds and 25 made free throws.
 
RECORD WATCH
>> Brittany Mbamalu needs 14 3-pointers to break the all-time record on the Island set by Nicole Duncan.
>> Ashanti Plummer will move into fifth in all-time blocks with two more rejections.
>> Jones can shatter the program record for free throw percentage in a single season. She has a 93-percent mark this year, well above assistant coach Jasmine Shaw's record of 87-percent.
>> Camesha Davis broke into the single-season top-10 for blocks with a pair of rejections at SLU, while Plummer is 13th with 24.

>> The Islanders rank first in the Southland Conference with 3.9 blocks per game.
>> Davis became the third player in program history to record 100 career blocks at Southeastern La.
>> A&M-Corpus Christi has 90 blocks on the year, which are 23 shy of the program record set in 2003-04.
 
DEFENSE DOING WORK
>> In addition to its blocks mark, A&M-Corpus Christi ranks in the top-five in the Southland Conference in four other statistical categories – third in opponent scoring (60.3), second in opponent field goal percentage (.384), fifth in rebounds per game (38.5) and third in rebounding margin (4.5).
>> Over the last five games, the Islanders have recorded 8.4 steals per game.
 
SERIES HISTORY
>> The Islanders have dominated the series history with the Cardinals, winning all six contests.
>> The two sides met for the first time in December of 2009, before a five-year hiatus until the Cardinals joined the Southland Conference.
>> Kassie Jones and Camesha Davis are averaging a combined 16.8 points per game, while knocking down 82-percent of their free throws against the Cardinals.
>> A&M-Corpus Christi pulled off the season sweep in 2015-16 with a 57-56 win in San Antonio, before taking the Feb. 20 contest 69-55 in the Dugan Wellness Center.
