CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team concludes the 2025-26 season over the next week, hosting East Texas A&M on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Northwestern State on Saturday at 1 p.m. for the final homestand of the year before then heading to Houston to take on HCU in the finale on Monday at 5 p.m.
The Islanders (5-21, 4-15 SLC) head into the final stretch having split their previous two games on the road, taking down Southeastern last Thursday by a final of 76-69 before then falling to McNeese in Lake Charles two days later. Graduate
Chelsea Wooten had one of the best games for a member of the program in recent memory in the former, setting new career-highs with 32 points and 14 rebounds while becoming the first A&M-Corpus Christi player to reach the 30-point threshold since Dae Dae Evans did so more than seven years ago on January 9, 2019. K'Nari Holliday also reached double figures in both contests in her return from injury, moving her just 13 points shy of reaching 1,000 for her collegiate career.
Despite being on the outside looking in itself, A&M-Corpus Christi will have the opportunity to play spoiler in the final week, as both the Lions (12-14, 8-11 SLC) and the Huskies (8-18, 6-13 SLC) remain in contention for the final spot in the Southland Conference Basketball Championship. The Lady Demons (14-13, 11-8 SLC) have already clinched their spot, but the Islanders will still look to get their revenge after falling by a final score of 65-49 in Natchitoches back on January 10.
