CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Following a week off, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field program hits the road for its second indoor meet of the season. The Islanders will compete in the two-day Houston Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Competition begins on Friday at 10 a.m. for the women in weight throw and the men's long jump at noon. Multi events start with the women's 60-meter hurdles at noon, before men's 60-meter dash a half hour later. Running events are set for a rolling schedule starting at 4:30 p.m.
Saturday's slate opens bright and early at 9 a.m. with the shot put for men and women, as well as the women's long jump. The men's heptathlon concludes on day two with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run starting at 10 a.m.
The women's 60-meter hurdle semis is first on the docket at noon for Saturday's running program, which is set to end with the men's 4x400-meter relay at 5:15 p.m.
The Blue and Green opened the 2017 indoor season on Jan. 13 at the Texas A&M Invite.
Aaron Rosales and
Logan Jorgensen broke the school records in the weight throw and pole vault, respectively.
Other impressive performances at Texas A&M included
Sashane Hanson's second-place finish in the high jump,
Liz Romo taking first in the 5,000-meter run and
Vinnie Van Puyvelde crossing in second in the 3,000-meter run.
Cesar Gonzalez also earned a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run.
