The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis team
will be hosting the 44th Annual HEB Tournament of Champions College
Tennis Championships starting this Friday at 9 AM at the HEB Tennis
Center. The Islanders will open the tournament by taking on the
DePaul Blue Demons.
The tournament will feature eight teams, including
three from the ITA Top 75. The teams participating are #18 Texas
Tech, #23 BYU, #64 Western Michigan, DePaul, Louisiana-Lafayette,
South Alabama and Middle Tennessee State and the host
Islanders.
The Islanders come into the HEB having last played
against Southland opponent Nicholls, taking a 4-2 win over the
Colonels to keep their unbeaten streak against conference opponents
alive at 17 straight. The Islanders are 4-5 on the season with
wins coming against Prairie View A&M, ULL, Centenary and
Nicholls.
The Islanders kick off at 9 AM and will be in action
again in the afternoon at 4 PM. Depending on the results of the
day, the Islanders will either play at 9 AM or 12 PM on
Saturday.
If the Islanders win both matches on Friday, they
would play in the championship round at 12 PM on Saturday. Any
other series of events would have them playing at 9 AM on Saturday
morning.
