Men's Tennis Back in Action for Midweek Against Southern Miss

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis team will be back on the court for the first time in over three weeks when they compete on a neutral court against Southern Miss Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The Islanders' last time out was in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions, where they split the weekend with a 4-2 win over New Mexico State before narrowly dropping a gritty 4-3 match against a tough Louisiana team. It was just their second loss of the season, hoisting an 11-2 record with their only other dropped match coming at nationally ranked Texas.

This match will be the final nonconference contest for the men's team, and a last tuneup before going full swing into defending their regular season championship with Southland Conference play beginning Saturday at UTRGV.

The Islanders are 57-14 in dual matches this year, with senior captains Josef Zapletal and Etienne Marty leading the team with 10-1 and 9-1 records on the year, respectively.

Zapletal has paired with Ethan Dasset mainly in doubles play, with the duo reaching double figure wins mainly at No. 3 doubles. Reigning perfect at No. 1 doubles is the pairing of Matthieu Coignet/Mikel Garmendia at 8-0, the group that won the 2025 SLC Fall Doubles Individual Championship as the best in the conference.

This will be the second ever meeting between A&M-Corpus Christi and Southern Miss, with the Islanders winning the 2023 matchup 5-2.
