LEXINGTON, KY. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team was honored with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award presented by INTENT for their continued academic excellence in 2025-26, marking the ninth straight year the program has earned the recognition.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams across all levels that maintain a year-long grade-point average of at least a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
In the 2025-26 academic year, the Islanders posted a 3.73 cumulative GPA as a team.
"We have received this award nine straight seasons which is a reflection of our program's philosophy, and the efforts put in by our coaching staff, support staff, and of course the student-athletes," said head coach
Steve Greene. "I couldn't be prouder of every one of our student-athletes, past and present, for their academic success. Individual and team academic honors like this will foster confidence and open up academic and employment opportunities down the road for our student-athletes."
The Islanders had five Southland Conference All-Academic honors with
Brooklyn Jaeger,
Kenna Buchanan,
Katelyn Krienke,
Kaitlyn Baumann, and
Virginia Van Der Werff all earning a spot on the Academic Team. Jaeger, Buchanan, Krienke, and Van Der Werff were additionally honored with CSC Academic All-District status while Jaeger was also tabbed to the CSC Academic All-America Third Team.
