Golf Wraps Up Season-Opening Tournament in South Carolina

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the 2026-27 season on Tuesday, finishing its run at the Golfweek Fall Challenge with a score of 913 (+61) to finish in 19th place overall.
 
The Islanders were the top finishers in the Southland Conference at the event, placing above the lone other competitor Stephen F. Austin with its team score of +101. Their best day of the three came with a +15 on the first day, which they then followed up with a +22 on Monday and a +24 on Tuesday.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi's best finisher ended up being the returning Samantha Gibbs, with the former SLC champion posting a +15 across the three days to finish in a tie for 77th. Gibbs' best performance came on the final day of competition, where she shot just two over par thanks in large parts to birdies on Holes 1, 10 and 12.
 
Next up for the team ended up being another returner in Hannah Creekmore, who started her sophomore campaign with a +17 total score while also saving her best for last with a +4 on Tuesday. The best placing newcomer for the Islanders was Abir Taibi at a +18 overall, and rounding out the group were Corrina Haros and Ellie Harris, who both finished with a score of +19.
 
The Islanders will now have a quick turnaround to their second tournament of the year, going back on the road next Monday and Tuesday to take part in the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, hosted by the University of New Mexico.
