PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team finally gets back on the course to begin the 2026-27 season starting on Sunday and running through Tuesday, competing in the Golfweek Fall Challenge at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
The Islanders join a crowded field of 22 other teams to open the season, with the full list consisting of Stetson, Central Arkansas, High Point, Memphis, Mercer, Morehead State, UNC Asheville, UNCG, Presbyterian, Arkansas State, Austin Peay State, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, Lipscomb, Old Dominion, Queens, Radford, Troy, UNCW, USC Upstate and Southland Conference rival Stephen F. Austin. Along with these schools, Miami (FL) also joins the action with a pair of individual competitors.
A&M-Corpus Christi returns to action following a fourth-place finish at the 2026 Southland Conference Championship, with the squad aiming to return to the top of the conference after reaching the mountaintop in 2024-25. The Islanders return a pair of players from that title team in
Samantha Gibbs and
Carla Puente Fernandez and two more returners from last year in
Amber Martin and
Hannah Creekmore, with this group being joined by four newcomers: graduate
Salysa Mason, juniors
Corrina Haros and
Abir Taibi and freshman
Ellie Harris. For the first tournament of the year, the team lineup will be (1) Haros, (2) Gibbs, (3) Creekmore, (4) Taibi and (5) Harris.
The action for the Islanders starts at 7:25 a.m. CT, with tee times staggered every 10 minutes. At Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, the athletes will play a par-71, 6004-yard course.
