Baseball Concludes 2026 Regular Season at New Orleans Looking to Secure Postseason Berth

NEW ORLEANS – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team culminates the 2026 regular season with one last series over the weekend, traveling to take on New Orleans for a three-game set starting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with the postseason still in reach.

The Islanders (23-25, 11-16 SLC) enter play in the Big Easy just one game out of the eighth and final spot in the Southland Conference Baseball Championship currently held by HCU and two games behind the sixth and seventh spots held by McNeese and Stephen F. Austin respectively. They do not hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Lumberjacks or the Huskies but do over the Cowboys, meaning they must finish two games better than the latter two or three better than the former in order to leapfrog their way into the tournament.

Over the weekend, A&M-Corpus Christi faces a Privateers (21-29, 10-17 SLC) team also still fighting for the postseason, as they currently sit a game behind with the exact same tiebreaker scenarios with the teams at the bottom of the current field. The Islanders faced a similar scenario heading into their series against UNO last season in the final weekend of the year, in which they earned a three-game sweep at Chapman Field to not only clinch their playoff berth but also jump to the No. 7 seed, sending them to the Edinburg Bracket of the tournament. The Privateers are led this season by a new face in Dylan Biddick, who comes in sporting a .320 average with a 1.032 OPS, 12 home runs, 13 doubles and 113 total bases, all of which rank first among qualified hitters on the team. On the mound, Riley Marcotte is their workhorse, leading the squad with 55.0 innings while posting a 4.91 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP.

All three games of the series will be available to watch live on ESPN+.
