Baseball Takes On Houston In Final Midweek of 2026

HOUSTON – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team starts the final week of the 2026 regular season with its last nonconference game of the year, traveling up north for a road tilt against Houston on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
 
The Islanders (23-24) close out their midweek slate with a chance to finish the season with a winning record in such games this year, coming into play on Tuesday at a mark of 5-5. Their wins in midweek contests have come against Prairie View A&M (2x), Texas Southern (2x) and Texas State, while their losses have come at the hands of UTSA (2x), Texas A&M, Rice and Texas.
 
As for the matchup against the Cougars (19-28), A&M-Corpus Christi has squared off against its Big 12 opponents 12 times since 2012, with Houston currently holding the edge with a record of 8-4. The last meeting between the two squads came on April 2 of last year with Houston taking home the win by a final of 9-1, but in the one prior to that, it was the Islanders earning a run-rule victory on February 25, 2023 in that year's Kleberg Bank College Classic. This year's Cougars team is led by the big bat of Cade Climie, who enters play on Tuesday with a .343 average and a 1.104 OPS with eight home runs, 11 doubles and 21 RBIs.
