HAMMOND, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team continues its six-game road swing with a trio of contests across state lines over the weekend, taking on Southeastern Louisiana for a conference series that kicks off on Friday at 6 p.m.
The Islanders (15-17, 4-10 SLC) make the trip to Hammond having already played a pair of away games during the week, falling to Rice on Tuesday before then turning around and earning a run-rule victory over Prairie View A&M on Wednesday by the final score of 14-4. The team banged out 13 hits in this contest, led by a monster performance by
Jayden Reynolds, who went 4-4 with five RBIs out of the leadoff spot in the order. This effort by Reynolds was the first four-hit, five-RBI game by any member of the Islanders in more than three years, with the most recent being from Brendan Ryan on March 16, 2023, in a record-breaking 24-3 victory over Harvard.
The weekend will see A&M-Corpus Christi run into a hot Lions (21-13, 10-5 SLC) squad, who comes in having downed UIW in two of three games on the road last weekend after upsetting No. 8 Southern Miss in Hattiesburg back on March 31. Southeastern boasts arguably the most threatening lineup in the conference, featuring eight different qualified hitters with an OPS above .900 and five with at least seven home runs, a group led by first baseman Brody Capps with 10. During the series, the Islanders will be looking to take their first set from the Lions since 2021, when they were able to earn a sweep at Chapman Field.
All three games this weekend will be available to watch live on ESPN+.
